Platelet Rich Plasma / Vampire Facelift

(PRP) Platelet Rich Plasma / Vampire Facial
The PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) facial, also known as the ‘Vampire Facial’ (as coined by Kim Kardashian), is a non-surgical procedure where a doctor injects the PRP substance, which includes parts of the patient’s own blood, into various areas of the patient’s face in order to treat wrinkles, acne scars, and give the patient a younger rejuvenated appearance.
To achieve the best results we also use the Dermapen, a fractioning micro needling device. The pen consists of 11 micro needles that pulse up & down as the doctor glides it over the patient’s face. It punctures the skin and pushes the PRP substance into the “dermis” (the dense inner layer of skin beneath the “epidermis”).
The Science behind PRP
Stem cells can be found in every part of the body, including our skin. The PRP substance activates the stem cells that lie dormant in the skin on the face through certain growth factors found in the platelets. When activated, those stem cells grow new, younger-looking skin. Thanks to the Vampire Facelift/PRP, you can now enjoy a younger looking appearance through a very safe and effective procedure!

The Platelet Rich Plasma Procedure
1. Collect Blood from Patient
About 2-4 vials of blood is drawn from the patient’s arm.
2. Separate the Platelets
A centrifuge is then used to separate plasma and platelets from the red blood cells.
3. Extract Platelet Rich Plasma
Extract 3-6 ml of Platelet Rich Plasma. Those blood platelets are mixed with a special vitamin serum used to fill out wrinkles to provide a more youthful appearance.
4. Numbing
The patient’s face is numbed with a topical medication cream to reduce pain from needling.
5. Application
After the numbing medication is applied and left for about 30 min we begin the process of spreading the Platelet Rich Plasma onto the patient’s face. The Dermapen is used to push the PRP into the skin and glides freely and easily over the tissue.
6. Apply PRP with Dermapen and Injection
PRP is applied to the patient’s face using the Dermapen which pushes the PRP into the Dermal. The remaining PRP can be injected into specific areas of the patient’s face that needs the most improvement such as to increase volume, decrease lines, and to improve acne scarring. (In some cases this step is done first.)[/p]
Benefits of the Platelet Rich Plasma Facial
Many patient’s report that their face looked refreshed, their fine lines and wrinkles diminished, they had no visible bruising at the injections sites with very minimal discomfort, and their results were almost instant.
- Younger looking color to your skin because of the new blood vessel formation.
- The outer most layer of your skin or “epidermis” will appear smoother.
- The procedure stimulates new collagen production over time in the “dermis”. This will lift the face to a more youthful, firmer shape.
- Quick procedure lasting an hour to 90 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Since the PRP facelift with the Dermapen is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that involves only injections, recovery time is minimal. You will not have any scars because we do not make any incisions; we only use needles. Also, since the substance used in the procedure derives from the patient’s own blood, there is very little risk of allergic reaction or abnormal response. The patient can return home right after the procedure. You may experience redness, which should go away after a few hours.
